The event will take place from 12th to 15th March at the Hotel Botánico & Oriental Spa Garden, and will be attended by some of the world’s leading experts on these animals
Loro Parque will host the Annual Symposium of the European Association for Aquatic Mammals (EAAM) from 12 to 15 March. The event, sponsored by Turismo de Tenerife and Canary Islands Government, will bring together leading experts in different fields that affect these animals, and will be a great opportunity for people from all corners of Europe to exchange knowledge, establish collaborative networks, and contribute to the advancement of their respective fields of expertise.
The EAAM organises this annual research symposium to share information on the results of scientific studies, advances in management or veterinary care, and other developments relevant to marine mammal professionals from around the world. The event combines lectures by invited speakers with oral presentations, as well as posters and technical workshops aimed at strengthening direct cooperation in all fields of marine mammal science. Registration is open to all interested persons, and can be registered via the conference website.
The knowledge obtained during the symposium will be key to protecting animals from the multiple threats they face in the wild. For example, successful conservation efforts in dolphins will be addressed by combining studies in the wild and under human care.
“It is a real pleasure for us to host such an important event again. Over the years we have become an international reference centre for the care of these fascinating animals. We hope that this will contribute to the welfare of the aquatic mammals,” says Loro Parque President Wolfgang Kiessling
